Larry Friedlander (owner/operator)

Larry started working at Tally-Ho as a young boy of 15 years when he did odd jobs so he could be around the horses. Although he dabbled in a few other professions in his teenage years (including obtaining certification as a farrier), his love of the Tally-Ho and the horses always brought him back. With the help of his parents, he was able to make his passion his job and joined Tally-Ho's long-time owner, Bruce Wright, as a partner in the company in 1990, when he was 23 years old.

Larry spent countless hours learning the nuances of the business as Bruce's sidekick. He loves working with the horses and is easily able to gain their trust; he will be the first to try and/or train new horses. In 2006 Larry assumed controlling interest in the company. He, his wife, Donna, and the best team of staff in Victoria work tirelessly to continue the long-standing tradition of Tally-Ho carriage tours. It's become a labour of love for them all!

Larry, Donna, and their daughters, Brianna (2001) and Kennadie (2004) live on Hidden Acres Farm in Central Saanich, BC. Their extended family includes the 21 Tally-Ho horses, their Leonberger dog, Jolee, and cat, Maddison. Larry is an avid motorcycle enthusiast and when he's not working or hanging out with family and friends, he is trying to find time for a ride.

Randy Tucker

Randy started at Tally-Ho in 1999 with a great love of horses. Back in the 1960's he spent countless hours watching wild horses interact with each other on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, in his native Alberta. This unique experience greatly broadened his understanding of horse behaviours; he has a wonderful affinity for connecting with the horses and has started most of the carriage horses on the road today. Randy is second-in-command of the downtown operation, helping Larry with everything from managing and training staff, to sales and, of course, carriage driving. He's an all-round good guy and a natural at ensuring the happiness of both customers and staff.

Randy is also an accomplished musician with a devoted fan base here in Victoria; the Swiftsure Lounge is always packed on a Saturday night when the Randy Tucker Band plays! Some of his more memorable gigs include a two year stint as Ian Tyson's guitar player and working for Juno Award Winner Ronnie King of "The Stampeders". He also wrote and performed on Judy Reimer's 1970's country hit "A Promise Is A Prison".

Carriage Drivers

Along with the horses, Tally-Ho's carriage drivers make the company what it is. Although we like our drivers to have an affinity for horses when they start the job, we truly hire those people who we feel will be able to fulfill our corporate philosophy of customer satisfaction and who will radiate hospitality and fun. Our drivers are professional, courteous and friendly. They possess a wealth of knowledge on the City of Victoria and will be able to provide historical information, amuse you funny anecdotes, and assist you with suggestions on where to eat and how to spend your time in Victoria.

Truck Drivers

Tally-Ho employs professional truck drivers to ensure that every time the horses are on the road due care is being taken to ensure their safety. Our drivers all possess their airbrake endorsement and must have a clean driving record. The drivers maintain a daily log of the condition of the truck and trailer so repairs are quickly identified and rectified.

Barn Boss

Tally-Ho's barn boss is responsible for the overall health and vitality of the horses. He also does all grooming, maintains the paddocks and barn and performs the occasional farrier work. Although our dedicated barn guy technically works a five-day week, he is around the farm on a daily basis. We think that's a good sign that he likes his job!
