The Larry Friedlander Memorial Scholarship fund was created in memory of Larry Friedlander who dedicated 35 years to the horse-drawn carriage industry in Victoria, British Columbia.
Larry personified the character of Tally-Ho Carriage Tours: the horses, staff and business were his life-long work and passion. He was known as a man with a heart of gold who was witty, charming, and authentic, and his endless teasing and stories always resulted in laughter. He was a mentor to the Tally-Ho team, and a friend to the end.
In establishing this scholarship, Tally-Ho Carriage Tours wishes to reflect Larry’s love for the horses and his enjoyment of supporting and mentoring youth. The Larry Friedlander Memorial Scholarship recognizes young adults seeking to further develop their understanding, skills and communications with their equine partners. The scholarship is specifically for courses at the non post-secondary level.
One scholarship up to $1,000 will be awarded in 2018, for youth aged 12 to 17.
